'Back to School Night', aka 'Open Your Laptop Night'
Back to School Night is Wednesday, September 2, but it should probably be called Open your Laptop Night this year as we continue with virtual learning. Instead of waiting until Wednesday, I'm posting my "Back to School Night" presentation here so that you can view it at a time that's convenient for you and then email me any questions you have at that time. During Back to School Night, I will not be 'live'; however, I will still be checking my email and responding to any questions you may still have.
I am teaching both 7th and 8th grade science this year. The basic procedures will be very similar but there are obviously differences in curriculum so I have created two different presentations. Be sure to click on the one that applies to your child. I forgot to include information about the Family Life Unit in the presentations but I wanted you to know that Family Life is normally part of the 7th grade curriculum and we will plan to teach that unit in the Spring for 7th graders, as well as for our 8th graders since our current 8th graders did not have access to that curriculum last Spring due to schools moving to the Distance Learning format.
Below the Information Links for the grade level presentations, I've also included a copy of 'Meet the Teacher' that was shared with students as an introduction to one of their assignments and gives you a little bit of information about me, if you'd like to view that. Again, if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to email me at email@example.com and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
How to be Successful
We may be online for now but we're still going to have a great time and hopefully, learn a lot. I'm looking forward to a wonderful school year. If you ever have questions/concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me. Email is the best way to contact me. Please include student's name and class period in the email.
In order for students to do their best, it's important they are prepared and ready to learn. It's important that they stay focused, take notes, participate, ask questions, complete all assignments, and study for assessments.
Whenever students don't understand something, whether it's about science concepts, how to complete the work, or technology needed to access the material, they need to ask for help, either during their assigned class time or by emailing me. Some questions can be answered by email or we can set up a video meeting during Asynchronous Learning time. Just let me know what works best...I want you to be successful!
