Measure B (2002)

Approved by voters of Rancho Cordova in 2002, Measure B provided $49 million in general obligation bonds for improvements to existing schools in Rancho Cordova and construction of a new elementary school to serve new housing developments in southern Rancho Cordova.  The district was able to secure additional funding from the State of California for some of the modernization projects and the construction of the new elementary school. 

Cordova Gardens Elementary School:  Work completed in 2007

• Replaced covered walkway roofing
• Replaced HVAC systems in classrooms
• Reconstructed roof framing required by the HVAC system upgrades
• Replaced suspended acoustical tile ceilings as necessary
• Provided access compliance upgrades to drinking fountains
• Remodeled  the administration
• Converted two classrooms into a new computer lab and library
• Replaced door hardware throughout the campus
• Installation of cable television
• Implemented energy load rolling
• Technology:  Replaced server, deployed 24 new computers, provided a laser printer, and mounted LCD projectors

 Cordova Lane Elementary School:  Work completed in 2006

• Replaced flooring in the library and installed additional computer outlets
• Installed new casework in the relocatable classrooms
• Replaced multipurpose, library and canopy roofing
• Replaced gutters and downspouts as needed
• Installed new gas and electrical lines on canopy and rooftops
• Replaced windows as needed
• Replaced HVAC units, thermostats and controls
• Replaced lighting inside and repaired stucco on the multipurpose
• Installed additional electrical outlets in the kitchen
• Replaced mop sinks and lighting in janitorial rooms
• Provided access compliance upgrades

• Installed new clocks and speakers in the portables

Cordova Meadows Elementary School:  Work completed in 2002

• Expanded the multipurpose room
• Installed sound proofing between new multipurpose expansion and adjacent classrooms
• Upgraded the kitchen and serving areas
• Demolished non state architect approved trailers
• Added a relocatable building to house a copy room, band room and office spaces
• Painted the exterior of campus
• Converted the former preschool building to a storage facility
• Installed cable television to all classrooms
• Installed new computer counters in Wing B classrooms
• Replaced plastic laminate countertops and upgraded lighting in classrooms
• Installed new sinks and faucets in classrooms
• Replaced failing exterior block wall with new plaster wall at Wing C
• Upgraded exterior lighting
• Installed new drinking fountains
• Repaired landscape and irrigation system
• Installed new library casework and bookshelves

Cordova Villa Elementary School:  Work completed in 2003 with supplemental modernization funding from the State of California

• Constructed permanent walls between the classrooms in the main building

• Provided data and technology access upgrades
• Provided electrical upgrades
• Made structural repairs in main building
• Painted interior and exterior of campus
• Replaced old buildings

Mather Heights Elementary School:  In 2001, state funds and developer fees were used to provide vast improvements to this site. In 2003, Measure B provided these additional features to the campus:

• Installed cable television throughout campus
• Technology:  Replaced server, deployed 54 new computers, provided laser printers, mounted LCD projectors

Navigator Elementary School:  Measure B, state funds and developer fees were used to construct this school in 2006.

• Constructed a new elementary to house 625 pupils which includes:
  • Administration building
  • Multipurpose room
  • Kindergarten building
  • Library and computer lab
  • Three classroom buildings
  • Site work and landscaping

Peter J Shields Elementary School:  Work completed in 2007

• Refinished or replaced classroom casework
• Provided access compliance upgrades
• Remodeled the administration
• Renovated multipurpose building to include new stucco, roofing, HVAC
• Replaced ceiling tiles, lights and mechanical grilles at the multipurpose
• Replaced doors throughout the campus
• Upgraded master clock and intrusion alarm
• Reconfigured two classrooms into a new computer lab and library
• Installed new cable television
• Painted exterior campus
• Technology:  Replaced server, deployed 24 new computers, added laser printers, and mounted LCD projectors

Rancho Cordova Elementary School:  Work completed in 2007

• Replaced HVAC system and added it to the energy management system
• Installed of new floor covering, lights, casework, counter tops, sinks, ceilings, blinds, white boards, doors and hardware in all rooms
• Upgraded all areas for access compliance
• Repaired or replaced roofing
• Painted the entire campus (interior and exterior)
• Repaired hard court and parking lots
• Demolished and replaced old portables
• Replaced ball wall
• Installed cable television in classrooms
• Installed a remote irrigation control system
• Renovated the kitchen area
• Installed  a computer lab and resource specialist program classroom
• Technology:  Installed a new data system, replaced server, deployed 39 new computers, provided two laser printers, mounted LCD projectors

White Rock Elementary School:  Work completed in 2006

• Replaced flooring, ceiling tiles, stage and lighting in the multipurpose room
• Installed acoustical walls, casework and paint in the multipurpose
• Renovated the kitchen
• Replaced Unit B and canopy roofing
• Replaced gutters and downspouts as needed
• Replaced windows as needed
• Replaced HVAC units, thermostats and controls
• Provided access compliance upgrades
• Repaired sewer line for the multipurpose restrooms
• Installed casework, access compliant sinks, cubbies, bookshelves and clocks in the relocatable rooms

Williamson Elementary School:  Work completed in 2004

• Installed skirting on ramps at the relocatable buildings

Mills Middle School:  Work completed in 2005

Mitchell Middle School:  Work completed in 2005 – 2007

• Installed a new bus loop
• Reconfigured parking lot
• Improved fire lane and parking area
• Repaired landscape and irrigation
• Installed relocatable buildings for future growth and for use for phasing of  the 2007 modernization
• Implemented energy load rolling
• Installed cable television
• Technology:  Replaced servers, deployed 47 new computers, added three laser printers and mounted LCD projectors

 Cordova High School:  Work completed from 2002 – 2007

• Converted the HVAC system from a 2-pipe to a 4-pipe, replaced unit ventilators, repaired existing boilers and chillers not covered in contract
• Painted the campus interiors and exterior
• Replaced roofing and repaired dry rot damage at the library, F-wing, D-wing south, B, C and E comfort stations. 
• Repaired or replaced all gutters
• Abated VAT floor tiles and replaced with VCT
• Refinished, replaced and/or added casework
• Installed new tackable vinyl wall covering
• Replaced doors and hardware throughout campus
• Installed new building signage
• Remodeled and added staff restrooms
• Replaced non-state architect approved interior walls

  • Relocated and added casework to increase the number of pottery wheel stations
  • Redesigned sewing room to better fit the needs of the sewing program
  • Redesigned the food lab
  • Repaired student restroom because of extensive dry rot in walls
  • Added dust filter system to ceramics room
     
•  B-wing:
  • Provided a new entrance to the supply room at staff request
  • Designed and installed new kitchen and laundry area for the Sacramento County Special Education program
  • Replaced Plexiglas windows with glass
  • Installed new computer lab casework in three rooms and added smart panels and LCD projectors in computer labs
     
• C-wing:
  • Installed smart panels and LCD projectors in end rooms

• D-wing:
  • Removed obsolete steam cleaner
  • Installed a new cage for the metal shop oxygen supplies
  • Relocated acetylene bottles and updated gas lines
  • Installed additional dust filter in metal shop
  • Converted the wood shop to a counseling center and added a new sink and coffee area
  • Abated and filled in the hydraulic lift pits in the auto shop
  • Converted receiving room to a chorus room

• E-wing:
  • Provided a new time out room for Special Education class
  • Replaced Plexiglas windows with glass
  • Installed hand dryers in student restroom
  • Installed smart panel and LCD projector in E-1

• F-wing:
  • Installed smart panels and LCD projectors
  • Replaced all Plexiglas windows with glass
  • Provided data to teacher work areas
  • Upgraded F1-2 and F5-6 work/lab rooms to provide a one hour fire rating
  • Provided venting system to acid storage cabinet
  • Replaced demonstration lab table in F-5
  • Added chair rail to prevent damage to walls from student desks
     
• G-wing:
  • Installed smart panels and LCD projectors in end rooms
  • Replaced chiller unit

•   Music:
  • Added structural reinforcement as required by the state architect
  • Repaired exterior leaking irrigation valve

• Library:
  • Installed a new drop ceiling and lighting
  • Installed smart panels and LCD projectors in main room and conference room
  • Reconfigured the career center
  • Replaced data poles and data wiring to student computer work stations

• Gymnasium:
  • Abated asbestos in ceiling
  • Installed a new floor, bleachers, lights, acoustic treatment, sound system and paint
  • Renovated the weight room
  • Improved storeroom to provide for a snack bar with a sink and a counter window with access to lobby
  • Reconfigured  girls side coaches storeroom/lounge
  • Created an Athletic Director Office

• Stadium:
  • Renovated stadium with a new track surface, synthetic turf football/soccer field, bleachers, stadium lights, concession/ticket building, repaired press box, added fencing, improved parking and entrance areas, provided access compliance upgrades and installed a new scoreboard
  • Remodeled restrooms
  • Installed a new stadium sound system
  • Improved drainage at storage area by tennis courts
  • Installed fence at stadium stairs

•  Cafeteria:
  • Purchased a new auto scrubber to maintain new floors
  • Replaced the stage curtain wall

• Snack Bar/Student Accounts:
  • Installed a floor safe to replace stolen safe

  • Added new fence between Mills and Cordova High (south of D-wing)
  • Provided new walkway from E-wing to Student Union
