In the Loop with the Supt! September 2023
Join Superintendent, Dr. Sarah Koligian as she visits Vista del Lago in this month’s edition of In the Loop with the Supt! Experience heartfelt connections and explore high-quality academic programs.
In this edition, we delve into Vista del Lago's vibrant music scene, an inclusive P.E. class that fosters friendships between students with special needs and their neurotypical peers, as well as rigorous academic programs such as Medical Biotechnology, which is part of their Career Technical Education offerings.

Cyber Safety and Drug Awareness
Parents and Guardians are invited to an important presentation on ways to keep young people safe from online dangers as well as drug use and the Fentanyl crisis.
The presentation will take place at the Education Services Center and via Zoom on October 17, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. A light meal will be provided for those who attend in person.

Board Briefs
School site funding for students
School districts in California receive funding from multiple sources. All FCUSD schools receive base funding. In addition, schools receive supplemental funds and other categorical funds based on school site percentages of students who are Unduplicated, which includes English Language Learners, Low Income, Homeless, and Foster Youth. If a student falls into more than one of these categories they are only counted once, hence the term Unduplicated Pupil.
In the past, the allocation of supplemental funds was directed to school sites by the District. This year we changed that. FCUSD has moved toward the practice of local site control on supplemental funding. School sites conducted site needs-based analysis to determine ways allocated funds should be used.
Staff presented how funding for students is being actualized in Folsom and Rancho Cordova and how base funding and additional funding sources for secondary and elementary school sites are allocated. Supplemental funding based on Unduplicated Pupil counts amounted to $3,244,350.00 in Rancho Cordova Schools and $292,800.00 in Folsom Schools.

Summer School report
2023 marked the official return to the joint Folsom and Rancho Cordova summer school sessions for the Folsom Cordova Unified School District with the inclusion of all high schools within the district.
Summer school had a total initial enrollment of 1265 students from Kinney High School, Prospect Community Day School, Innovations Academy, Walnutwood High School, Folsom Lake High School, Folsom High School, and Cordova High School. Enrollment rose to 1287.
Students successfully completed credit recovery and 95% of senior students who attempted to graduate were able to successfully receive their diplomas.
