Attendance improvement update

Folsom Cordova Unified School District staff launched a 20-Day Attendance Challenge at the beginning of the school year to reach families of students with absences. District and school communities committed targeted time to make phone calls, make home visits, connect with families, and work together to remove barriers to regular school attendance. Nearly 5,000 phone calls and over 100 home visits were made!

***Did you know, good attendance by 8th grade is the number one predictor of high school graduation!***

We are pleased to report that overall attendance is up and the District plans to launch another 20-Day Challenge in January after winter break. To see staff’s presentation with more details, please click HERE.

Minga communication tool for students

Minga is an app-based program available at the high school level, allowing students to communicate with teachers and administrators in a safe, school-monitored environment.

The Minga app provides students access to a digital ID, activity calendars, announcements, alerts, celebrations, and has a hall pass feature so students can check in and out should they need to leave class. Students may install the Minga app on their mobile phones and Chromebooks. Staff presented an update on the use of the app.

2024-2025 Instructional Calendar Update

As the District is planning the 2024-25 Instructional Calendar, we are reaching out to our community for thoughts and input.  To gather your feedback, we're using a tool called ThoughtExchange. The survey offers a translation feature so you may take the survey in your home language.

You'll be asked to respond to one open-ended question, consider and assign stars to some of the ideas shared by others (20 to 30 is ideal), and learn what's important to the group.

Your thoughts and stars are confidential, and you can come back as often as you'd like to participate.

This survey will remain open until Monday, October 9, 2023.
