Board Briefs June 6, 2024

Dear FCUSD Community,

Please read today’s Board Briefs and Updates. Highlights include: • Student-athletes celebrated • Reports on programs set to support student achievement • Graduation recap NOTE: District Communications will continue through late June before pausing for updates to our student information and mass communication systems. District emailed communications will resume in late July. The next and last Board Meeting of the 2023-24 school year will be on June 20. Spring sport athletes honored Students and their coaches who participated in athletics at secondary schools across the District were honored at the Board Meeting. Improving student experience and outcomes with EMH and IYT The annual report from Earth Mama Healing (EMH) and Improve Your Tomorrow (IYT), offered insights into the performance and impact of the programs implemented at Mills Middle School, W.E. Mitchell Middle School, and Cordova High School. This report presents data across several key areas including participation, academic achievement, behavior, attendance, self-efficacy, and the overall impact on the students and their families served throughout the school year. See the annual report presentation here. Operation Graduation The Education Services Department is collaborating on an integrated system of support called Operation Graduation. This effort is focused on addressing and eliminating predictable disparities in high school graduation rates based on race, class, English language acquisition, and special education needs. NOTE: The Operation Graduation Executive Summary originally published had a data error. This error has been corrected. We are pleased to report that Cordova High School’s graduation rate increased to 90%. This also increased the overall graduation rate to 95.6% for FCUSD. The report attached here is the corrected executive summary. 2024 Graduations! Students from our Alternative Education high schools celebrated their graduation last month. FCUSD is committed to providing diverse pathways and options for all students to thrive and graduate.
