Feasibility study for District reorganization

At the January 19 Board Meeting, it was requested that staff report back on the cost and process of completing a study on the ability to reorganize Folsom Cordova Unified School District into two separate districts based upon the communities of Rancho Cordova and Folsom.

After multiple FCUSD Board Meetings including a Special Meeting with the FCUSD Board and the City Councils of Rancho Cordova and Folsom, it was agreed that a feasibility study would be necessary to understand if reorganizing FCUSD would meet all state-required criteria.

Details and more information may be found at www.fcusd.org/reorgFAQ

The Board approved the Reorganization Feasibility Study Agreement with School Services of California and the Memorandum of Understanding Cost Sharing Agreement with the City of Rancho Cordova, the City of Folsom, and the Folsom Cordova Unified School District.

 Key points:

  • The feasibility study is a lengthy process that will take several months to complete
  • The cost of the feasibility study will be $72,500.00 and shared equally between FCUSD, the City of Rancho Cordova, and the City of Folsom as follows:
    • City of Rancho Cordova = $24,166.66
    • City of Folsom = $24,166.66
    • Folsom Cordova USD = $24,166.68

Folsom Cordova USD priorities for student success

In alignment with FCUSD’s Vision Statement, Empowering all students to thrive through educational excellence, the District has adopted four priorities to guide decision-making and initiatives. They are:

  1. Empower student growth and success
  2. Partner with students, families, and community
  3. Foster a thriving work environment and diverse staff
  4. Optimize systems and optimize a culture of innovation

As we go through the 2023-24 school year, we will follow these priorities as a road map with student success and graduation as the ultimate goal.

Staffing our schools and programs for students

State and nationwide staff shortages have affected all sectors including public education and Folsom Cordova. However, Folsom Cordova has implemented strategies to Recruit, Train, and Retain with great success. We begin the school year fully staffed for teachers and as we continue to add new positions for Classified staff, are actively recruiting.

Please read this report HERE  to learn about the many enterprising leadership approaches that focus on why FCUSD is a great place to work.

We invite our public to join us to learn more about choosing FCUSD as a place to grow their career.
