Dear FCUSD Community,

Please read below for an update on last night’s Board Meeting.

"Connections" at Mills Middle School

 Tonight’s Special Presentation was given by Mills Middle School Principal Dana Carrigan who shared how staff and students are building positive relationships and school culture with a program they’ve named Fun At Mills, or F.A.M. as it’s affectionately called. F.A.M. takes place at lunchtime one Friday a month with fun activities in a positive social environment. (The Mills staff hope to increase how often they can offer F.A.M. in the near future).

Internet and cell phone addiction in youth

Kelly Richardson, Marriage and Family Therapist, spoke on dangers our youth face with electronic media and how internet addiction affects our children. 

Last May, Ms. Richardson joined presenters from local law enforcement, including the Sacramento Sheriff’s Office, and Homeland Security who shared valuable information on this subject that included:

  • Internet addiction and screen time
  • Digital platforms popular with kids
  • Real-life scenarios happening in our area
  • How to live with social media safely

Labor negotiations update

New Pacific School - Rancho Cordova Charter Petition

At the second public hearing of the New Pacific School Charter Petition,  FCUSD staff presented the report and recommended findings of fact.  Please click on the following links to read the FCUSD staff report and view staff’s presentation.

The New Pacific School was afforded equivalent time to respond to the staff report and recommended findings of fact. Please click on the following links to read New Pacific School Charter’s petition and response to FCUSD findings.

Board voted to approve the petition to allow New Pacific School Charter to open in Rancho Cordova for the 2023-24 school year, pending language in an agreed upon MOU.

Design Tech High School MOU

Board approved the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Folsom Cordova Unified School District and Design Tech High School - Rancho Cordova.

2021-2022 Unaudited Actuals Financial Report

Staff presented the Unaudited Actual Revenues and Expenditures reported on the Annual State Budget Forms, General Fund, and Other Funds for the State of California.

Information included:

  • Unaudited Actuals 2021-2022 (through June 30, 2022)
  • Adopted Budget 2022-2023 (Board approved June 23, 2022)

Administering Medication and Monitoring Health Conditions

Board approved updates to Board Policy (BP): 5141.21 which will allow Naloxone Hydrochloride, or other opioid antagonists, available for emergency medical aid on school grounds, as well as language prohibiting the administration of medical cannabis on campus by parents/guardians or school personnel.
