BOARD MEETING RECAP

Spring Sports Teams recognized

At last night’s Board meeting, student-athletes and coaches playing spring sports were celebrated for their accomplishments. Representatives from Sutter Middle School (SMS), Cordova High School (CHS), Folsom High School (FHS), and Vista del Lago High School (VDL) joined us.

Details of student athletic accomplishments can be found on our website. We captured a picture of the moment HERE.

Vista del Lago named a Model PLC school

Professional Learning Communities (PLC) from Solution Tree is an evidence based practice at Folsom Cordova schools, whereby educators collaborate as a team to improve student learning. Vista del Lago High School was recently named a Model PLC School, one of only six high schools in California with this distinction.

Principal Kim Moore and her team received the award from Solution Tree along with a Certificate of Appreciation from the Superintendent and Board. See members of the VDL team HERE and congratulations to Vista del Lago.

2023-24 Proposed Budget

An overview of the 2023-24 proposed budget was given in a presentation which you may find by clicking HERE.

The presentation included a summary of variables that are still to be determined and which will have an impact on the final budget (starting on page 3) as well as key expenditure assumptions (starting on page 8).

The budget will go to the Board for final approval on June 15. We encourage our community to review the details in the budget overview and budget report

2023-24 Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP)

School districts receive funding from different sources: state funds under the Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF), other state funds, local funds, and federal funds. The LCFF gives school districts more flexibility in deciding how to use state funds. In exchange, school districts must work with parents, educators, students, and the community to develop a Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) that shows how they will use these funds to serve students.

Staff presented an overview summary along with the 2023-24 LCAP which you can read by clicking on this link HERE.

Girls Flag Football starting this fall

Girls Flag Football will be a new fall sport beginning in the 2023-24 school year at Cordova High,  Folsom High and Vista del Lago. Contact your school directly for more information on how to participate.
