From FCUSD: Weather update, Jan 8
January 8, 2023

Dear FCUSD Community,

All FCUSD schools are open. Classes will begin at their regular times tomorrow, Monday, January 9.

We continue to monitor the storm situation. At this moment, our schools are all operational. Our Facilities team has been working diligently to clear debris and damage caused by last week’s storm and we are in close contact with SMUD, the County Office of Emergency Services, and city leaders for weather and safety updates.

Regions at risk of flooding or with unsafe road conditions are being advised by local authorities on next steps. FCUSD has not been required to close schools by state or local agencies.

We are aware that many in the county have experienced power outages recently and SMUD has communicated with us that they are working as quickly as possible to repair damage and restore power for all customers. They have also expressed that due to the amount and extent of damages, some customers will experience lengthy outages.

At this time all FCUSD schools have power and are ready to welcome students to school on Monday, January 9.

However, with another significant storm expected tonight, we will monitor the situation of our schools tomorrow and will let our families know as soon as possible if we receive direction from our state authorities to change school schedules due to the impacts of the storm.
