FCUSD Community:

We are aware of national news covering the beating and death of a young man, Tyre Nichols, in Memphis, TN. who is from Sacramento and has friends and family roots in our area. We are also aware that very disturbing video images have been released this evening which are reported to be very graphic, alarming and upsetting.

Many of our students and staff may experience deeply painful emotions as they process this tragedy, whether they view the video or not. Attached are handouts from the National Association of School Psychologists with helpful guidelines on talking with your children about grief and violence.

FCUSD cares about the safety and well-being of our students and staff and we have mental wellness supports and resources for our community.

During the school day, mental health professionals are available for students. We encourage students and families to contact your school’s administration if needed.

Our website has wellness resources you may see HERE.

Families, staff, and students may access Care Solace to get connected to a mental health provider. This service is free.

Our commitment to our community remains constant and that is to provide warm and welcoming learning environments so all students may thrive with an excellent education.
