FCUSD School Closure Updates, Jan 10

Dear FCUSD Community,

Today we closed four schools that were without power this morning. They were Cordova High, Mills Middle School, Peter J. Shields, and Cordova Gardens. Families and staff at these schools were notified before the school day began.

SMUD has been working to fully restore power and is confident that all schools will have power tomorrow, Wednesday, January 11. We are in contact with SMUD for updates.

Unless otherwise notified, all FCUSD schools will be open tomorrow.

In the event we need to close a school due to unforeseen circumstances, such as a power outage, we will notify staff and families at that school site, and we will make every effort to send this notification by 6:30 a.m. that day.

We will also post any school closure updates on our website: www.fcusd.org

We continue to monitor the weather closely, staying in contact with state and local agencies, and actively assessing any weather impacts on our schools and schedules.

Most importantly, please know that when making decisions about school closures that impact student learning and staff working conditions, safety is always the highest consideration.
