FCUSD Message to the Community, August 8
August 8, 2022

Hi Team FCUSD!

Please see the welcome back message below which will be shared with all families shortly. Have a great 2022-23 school year!

Dear FCUSD Community:

School starts tomorrow, August 9

We are excited to welcome our students back to school tomorrow morning. See you there!

As a friendly reminder, elementary schools have new schedules this year. School principals are sending specific information directly to families. You may see an overview of schedules on the website HERE.

Summer success reflections

Over the summer our staff and students continued learning and engaging in rewarding learning experiences. In case you missed some of these stories, please click on the links below.

Breakfast and lunch are served at all school sites

Universal meals will be once again offered at all sites for the 2022-23 school year, made possible through a state-funded program specifically designed for school meal programs.

This year breakfast will be provided at all schools. In general, breakfast will begin service around 7:40 a.m. Your school will provide specific details.

For more information and what’s on the menu, please visit FCUSD’s Food Services website HERE.

We are pleased that all students will have the opportunity to eat a nutritious breakfast and lunch at school. As this is the first year many of our sites will be offering breakfast, we thank you in advance for your patience and understanding as we learn together what the demand and pacing of serving our students will be.

Help FCUSD direct your tax dollars back to your school site!

In past years, families qualifying for free or reduced meals were asked to fill out a form or input household information online. We need your help and participation again this year.

IMPORTANT: While the state of California now provides direct funding for meals, other state and federal funding sources for programs and services that support student learning are still tied to household income verification.

Much like last year, in the upcoming days, you will have an opportunity to voluntarily and confidentially, provide household income levels that will support FCUSD to continue providing important services. More information on how to participate will be sent soon. (see below for a list of FCUSD services)

Plus, based on the information you provide, you may be eligible to receive free or reduced services such as:

  • Free or reduced after-school care
  • Free or reduced transportation costs
  • Free or reduced PE and athletic costs
  • Free or reduced, AP, SAT, and ACT fees

FCUSD services with funding tied to household income verification include:

  • Mental Health Specialists
  • Librarians
  • Translation services
  • Increased time Assistant Principals
  • Additional school clerk time
  • Social Workers
  • Transportation
  • Increased Campus Monitor time
  • Increased SEL programming
  • School Safety Coordinator
  • Increased training for staff
  • Visual and Performing Arts programs
  • ….and more!

We appreciate your partnership to help FCUSD maximize state and federal funds so we can continue delivering highly effective services and qualified staff experts for your student and their school community.
