Update: Message to the FCUSD Community
March 5, 2021
Dear FCUSD community: Please see the Board Briefs and Updates below.
Secondary schools update
FCUSD found out from public health on Tuesday night that we could reopen campus for 6th graders. Staff and families mobilized quickly. Two days later we welcomed Folsom Middle and Sutter Middle School 6th graders to campus in a Hybrid schedule, and in alignment with the schools’ trimester schedule.
It was an exciting day! Get a glimpse of what the day looked like by visiting these links:

We are excited to welcome our 6th graders at Mills Middle and W.E. Mitchell Middle on March 16, which will be when their new quarter begins.
FCUSD eagerly awaits a decision by public health to allow us to bring back ALL middle and high school students, and we will keep you informed as soon as we are notified. As a reminder, all secondary students are allowed to return to campus in Hybrid as soon as one of these conditions are met:
- California Department of Public Health approves our second request to return secondary students to campus while in Purple Tier
- Sacramento County moves to the Red Tier

Many thanks and credits to Student Advisory Board Member Ally Gallant for her narration of the video and her leadership!
Athletics and Extracurricular activities update to the Board
Athletics and other extracurricular activities such as performing arts provide a valuable experience for students. FCUSD is pleased that state and public health authorities are allowing these activities as long as all health measures put forth by public health are followed.
For information on performing arts, band, drama, and after-school clubs, please contact your school or program advisors.
Currently, several secondary athletic teams are practicing and competing. Outdoor sports are allowed to take place. Indoor sports are still waiting to be approved by public health.
IMPORTANT: For specific information on transportation, specific safety measures for each sport, and information on limited observation for spectators, please contact your school or coach directly.
