Update: Message to the FCUSD Community

March 19, 2021

Dear FCUSD community: Please see today’s Board Briefs and Updates.

Building More Equitable Learning Environments

A Special Presentation was given by Dr. Iyuanna Pease, Director of Social Emotional Learning and Equity, and Scott Meyer, Director of Behavior Intervention & Student Services titled Building More Equitable Learning Environment highlighted the inequities that exist in suspension, graduation, and attendance rates. One area of focus is that Black, Hispanic, English Learners, and Special Education students have been most disproportionately impacted with distance learning and attendance.

Additionally, the presentation covered strategies for improving student outcomes of marginalized groups, including creating an Equity Board Policy, and increasing diversity in FCUSD staff.

To learn more, please see the attached presentation.

Potential Schedules for 2021-22 school year

The Intention of the Folsom Cordova Unified School District is to open ALL Elementary, Middle, and High Schools in our traditional, pre-pandemic models for all students, in all classes, five days a week.

While the District is planning for a traditional school year, it is important to note that external factors such as national and state health guidelines must be followed.

Please see the attached presentation for more information and proposed schedules

Recap of secondary back to campus

Folsom Cordova is both pleased and proud to have Hybrid on-campus, in-person learning for students K - 12 at all school sites. Secondary sites enjoyed having students back in class and on the campus. Shout out to the faculty and staff of  #TeamFCUSD for their dedication, hard work, and all the many extras it took to accomplish this.

If you haven’t seen pictures of the week, check them out here and here and here

Thank you to all FCUSD students and families for your patience and grace as we progress forward in our goal to have all students safely back on campus.

Update: Message to FCUSD Staff and Families

March 19, 2021

Dear FCUSD staff and families:

We are aware of the CDC’s recent guidelines that state students may sit in class 3’ apart. We are now awaiting updates to learn how the California Department of Public Health, Sacramento County of Public Health, and Cal-OSHA will align with updated CDC guidelines. As a reminder, all California schools must follow state and local public health guidelines.

A reduction in spacing would create additional opportunities for in-person offerings, and our plan for the next school year is to return to a full, five-day traditional schedule as long as all required safety measures are in place as required by state authorities. We will continue to update our staff and families with this evolving information.
