New Folsom Ranch High School update
Last night, the Board approved the schematic design for the new High School in Folsom Ranch, south of Highway 50. To view the schematic, with artist renderings of the new school, please see the attachment.
The new high school will be designed to meet the needs of 21st-century learners, with innovative and collaborative spaces to encourage academic advancements and positive socialization.
Board approval now allows the architect (Rainforth-Grau) to move forward with the next step, which is design development. Following this, construction will be in alignment with future area development growth.
Budget Update: The Impact of the Governor's Proposed Budget for 2021-2022
Governor Newsom released his proposed state budget on January 8.
With revenue growth surpassing original projections, the Governor’s Budget proposal includes a compounded cost-of-living (COLA) of 3.84% as well as additional funding for special education, educator professional development, and mental health services. The Governor also proposed incentive grants for reopening schools and interventions to address learning loss. While revenue from the state has been projected slightly higher than originally anticipated, future years are projected to have funding shortfalls.
