MLK Day, January 18 - No School

Reminder to all FCUSD families: there will be no school on Monday, January 18th in honor of the holiday to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Classes will resume Tuesday, January 19.

Did you know? MLK Day is the only federal holiday designated as a national day of service to encourage all Americans to volunteer to improve their communities. Dr. King challenged our nation to recognize that our individual liberties rely upon our shared humanity. In his words, “Everyone can be great because everyone can serve.”

FCUSD Scholar-athletes headed to top rank universities

Just before the Winter Break, two Folsom High athletes – Kaleb Higgins and Ari Patu – signed early letters of intent to play full-scholarship football as part of the NCAA’s Early National Signing period. Their academic and athletic excellence make us FCUSD proud.

Announcement from FCUSD

It is bittersweet that FCUSD announces Sutter Middle School Principal, Keri Phillips will be leaving. Ms. Phillips has accepted a position as a Principal/Superintendent for the Gold Trail Union School District (GTUSD). This is an exciting opportunity for Ms. Phillips and we know she will enjoy working in the community in which she has resided for over 20 years. She noted, “Leading those I serve in the community where I live is a dream. What this community has given me, I want to give back. I look forward to the future at GTUSD”

Ms. Phillips has been a valuable member of the FCUSD family for many years. She served as the Principal of Sutter Middle School for 15 years and prior to that, as Assistant Principal at Folsom High School for three years. Her inspiration for education began at an early age. Raised in a family of educators, both of her parents were teachers. Phillips has fond feelings for the roots she has grown here. “Sutter has a strong culture on campus with great teachers, counselors, staff, families, and obviously, it is beautiful.”

The District is seeking a replacement for the Sutter Middle School Principal position now and is expecting to announce that decision within the next few weeks. In the interim, Assistant Principals Kevin Garmston and Leanne Linson will oversee the daily leadership needs of the school.

We wish Keri Phillips success in her new ventures and appreciate the heart print she leaves with FCUSD.
