Update April 21, 2021

Message from the Superintendent

April 21, 2021

Dear FCUSD Community:

Over the last several months, many of us have had a heightened sense of apprehension and a range of other emotions given the various violent incidents across our country and the trial of former Minneapolis police officer, Derek Chauvin. In the wake of yesterday’s conviction of Derek Chauvin and national news coverage that continues to report violence against the Black community, feelings may be intensified.

FCUSD acknowledges the traumatic impact these events can have on the well-being of students, families, and staff. It is important that everyone has safe and affirming spaces to discuss their feelings and concerns. If your student needs support, or someone to speak with, please reach out to their teacher, counselor, or principal. Resources for coping with heightened anxieties for students and staff can also be found on our website: www.fcusd.org/wellness

Compassion, connection, and empathy are central to supporting our students, families, staff, and one another, now, and as we continue to create safe and welcoming learning environments for all students.
