FCUSD Message to the community, Sept 7
September 7,  2022

Dear FCUSD Community,

We are pleased to present enriching learning opportunities every day at school. Daily attendance is important for learning and connecting! We are also pleased that volunteers may come onto campus. As we continue to offer safe and healthy in-person learning experiences, please review our safety guidelines below.

Field Trip Reminders

All volunteers, including those who accompany students on field trips, must follow our volunteer processes and guidelines. www.fcusd.org/volunteer

The FCUSD volunteer process includes a TB assessment and/or TB skin test. A parent/guardian volunteer may complete this assessment at their physician’s office, or they can attend one of the courtesy monthly TB Test Clinics sponsored by FCUSD. If you are planning on attending an upcoming field trip, please plan to attend either the FCUSD sponsored TB clinic or complete the assessment at your physician’s office well in advance of the field trip. The next TB Clinic is September 19, 2022! You can find the list of scheduled clinics here.

COVID-19 Safety

As a reminder, FCUSD follows safety measures put in place by public health. If you are unsure whether to send your student to school, we ask that you follow these steps:

  1. Monitor for symptoms
  2. Please stay home until fever-free for 24 hours without the aid of medication.
  • COVID tests are available upon request from your school
  • Masks are not required but are strongly recommended indoors

For specific questions regarding your student, please contact your school’s health office.

Updates to SCPH testing recommendations & School Attendance Documentation

If your student tests positive for COVID please refer to the most recent Sacramento County Department of Public Health (SCPH) Decision Tree which you may view by clicking here.

Under this guidance, a student who has tested positive for COVID-19 may exit isolation after a negative antigen test conducted at any time during days 5-10.

In order to shorten the 10-day isolation period according to the SCPH guidelines, a parent/guardian must complete the attestation form and submit it to the attendance clerk at their student’s school site. All absences will be coded Illness Parent Verified (IPV-limit of 10 per school year) while the student is absent from school until additional documentation is submitted (for example, a doctor’s note or an attestation form). Once the attestation form has been turned in to the attendance clerk, the attendance codes will change from IPV to COV for absences related to the student’s isolation period.

If unable to test, or choose not to test, a student may return to school 10 days after symptom onset (Day 11). All absences will be coded Illness Parent Verified (IPV-limit of 10 per school year) while the student is absent from school. If the student’s symptoms were related to COVID, a parent may submit a signed and dated attestation form to change the student’s attendance code from IPV to COV.  In this example, the attestation form is a tool used to change an attendance code and is not being used to verify testing dates. Please reach out to your school site attendance clerk if you have any questions.

Reminder: Antigen tests are available at the school sites upon request for students and staff

COVID-19 Exposure Notices:

With support from the Sacramento County Public Health Department, COVID-19 exposure notices will be sent out when the following criteria are met within a 14-day period:

  • Elementary school setting: three or more suspected/probable/confirmed cases in a classroom or if 10% of the school population fits these criteria
  • Secondary school setting: 10% of the grade or 10% of the school is suspected/probable/confirmed cases of COVID-19
