COVID-19 and Flu Vaccine Clinic offered at the district office  

Sacramento County Public Health and FCUSD are pleased to offer COVID-19 and flu vaccines at no cost to FCUSD staff and the community.

AB 856 Pupil Health: COVID-19 Youth Health Information Act

The California Department of Education (CDE) has posted information related to the safe return of students to exercise and physical activity after exhibiting signs or symptoms of or testing positive for COVID-19.  To access this information from the CDE, please click HERE: Additional information from the American Academy of Pediatrics regarding this can be found HERE.

All FCUSD P.E. teachers and coaches have been made aware of this requirement to support our students as they transition back to school after having COVID. If your student has been affected, you may be asked to provide a note from your doctor, listing any restrictions or modifications to physical education or athletics.

There have been messages circulating on social media, encouraging students and teachers to protest the Governor’s COVID-19 vaccination mandate by not going to school on Monday, October 18. 

We understand that families and students may have strong emotions and questions about COVID-19 safety measures, including vaccine and testing requirements. However, keeping children home from school to protest a COVID-19 vaccine requirement announced by Gov. Gavin Newsom, would only result in lost learning time for our students.  

Showing up for school has a huge impact on a student’s academic success starting in kindergarten and continuing through high school. Our District has no control over the proposed mandate, which would treat the COVID-19 vaccine similarly to the 10 vaccines on the list already required by California law for students attending K-12 schools. Gov. Gavin Newsom’s vaccine mandate for California students does not take effect until either January 1 or July 1, 2022, depending on FDA approvals, for children ages 12 and over. As a reminder, FCUSD has no plans to mandate vaccination in advance of state regulations or legislation.
