Update: FCUSD Message to the Community, Jan 5
January 5, 2022
Dear FCUSD Community,
We are glad to welcome back our students to school this week and look forward to continuing in-person instruction, with all health and safety measures in place.
The current COVID-19 conditions remain highly fluid amidst the highly contagious Omicron variant, and we are working together with public health officials to implement any new recommendations that are adopted by the California Department of Public Health and Sacramento County Public Health. We expect conditions to evolve and that further guideline updates will be provided.
FCUSD COVID-19 Dashboard
Beginning today the COVID-19 Dashboard will resume updates weekly and each Wednesday. You may see today’s update by visiting the website: www.fcusd.org/COVID
At-home testing kits for students
Within the next few days, students will receive an at-home test kit from the state; (1) one kit with (2) two tests. Kits are for K - 12 students only and will be delivered to school sites throughout this week. Please await further instructions from your school site for more information.
- These at-home test kits are optional, and their use is not required to attend class.
- Test kit availability is scarce at this time. We do not know when additional kits will be available.
- Instructions for using the kit are included in the kit.
- If you do not plan to use the kit, please return unopened to your school site.
However, please note that if your child is experiencing COVID like symptoms, these can be a helpful screener.
IMPORTANT: If a positive result is discovered, please stay home, and contact your school site.
Quarantine guidelines:
COVID guidelines are changing rapidly, and we understand the CDC guidelines for quarantining have changed. Please note that we are obligated to follow guidance from the California Department of Public Health and Sacramento County Department of Health. As we receive new guidance, we will review new measures, put them into operation and keep you apprised of applicable changes.
If your child, or a family member in your household, has tested positive and you have notified your school office, please be patient and wait for our nurse or health clerk to return your call or email to discuss quarantine requirements.
COVID Testing
If you are concerned about having COVID because you have symptoms or have come into close contact with a COVID positive individual, you may access testing though:
- Your medical provider
- Community testing sites: Access testing at one of the many community testing sites listed at the Sacramento County COVID-19 Symptom Screening Mobile Testing Sites
Students who have come into close contact while at school or during a school related activity such as athletics will be contacted by an FCUSD staff member for testing instructions.
