February 18, 2022
Dear FCUSD Community:
Please see today’s Board Briefs and Updates below.
At the Board meeting last night, three exemplary students were honored as local recipients of the Association of California Administrators (ACSA), Every Student Succeeding program which recognizes students who have demonstrated significant achievements despite extraordinary challenges. The Folsom Cordova Leadership Association is a member of ACSA Region 3 and selected three students as nominees. Those students are:
- Landon McMahon, Mills Middle School
- Loryle Ruben, Sutter Middle School
- Najla Naser, Cordova High School
We are additionally pleased to announce that Najla Naser has been selected to advance to the state level of ACSA’s Every Student Succeeding, representing ACSA Region 3. Learn more by visiting our website here, and to learn more about this program, please visit the ACSA website.
We are very proud of our students and celebrate their successes.
Resolution No. 02-17-22-33: Eliminate COVID-19 Health Mandates Immediately Upon State or County's Authorizing Action
The Board passed a resolution that allows FCUSD staff to act immediately once the state has relaxed COVID-19 health mandates. Although masking requirements in schools is still a state requirement, FCUSD is eager to return to pre-COVID school experiences and now has Board authorization to move as quickly as legally possible to return to normal school operations, while maintaining safe learning environments for all students and staff.

While we recognize there are very strong feelings on this issue, we maintain our position that harassment and bullying are never appropriate and will not be tolerated. We applaud the respectful discourse we have seen by students and families, even when they disagree, and encourage all to be courteous with one another.
