Update: FCUSD message: COVID testing and safety, Dec 30
December 30, 2021
We hope all are enjoying winter break. As we prepare to return to school on Monday, January 3, please keep reading for important safety information.
COVID testing:
COVID testing is not required to return to campus. For those who are symptomatic or concerned about possible exposure, we encourage all to take advantage of free community testing at a community testing site which can be found by clicking this link here.
Before coming to school on Monday - Symptom screening:
Families are encouraged to screen their children for symptoms of illness before returning to school. If your child has COVID-19, is symptomatic with COVID-19 symptoms, or has come into close contact with a COVID-19 positive individual, they should remain home and be tested for COVID-19.
Students or staff who tested positive for COVID-19 during the winter break must complete their isolation period before returning to school. CDPH is currently reviewing CDC’s recent updates to isolation and quarantine guidance. Currently, there are no changes to California schools. If there are changes, we will promptly communicate those to you.
At-home testing kits:
As you may have heard, on December 28, State Superintendent Tony Thurmond announced that the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) would be working with local County Offices of Education to increase access to no-cost, at-home COVID-19 antigen tests for students and staff. FCUSD does not have the testing kits at this time. We will continue to communicate promptly as we learn more about local distribution of these tests.
