Dear FCUSD Community:
Caring for one another continues to be our message of encouragement and hope. Please keep reading to learn more.
Support for Afghan students and families
News of the evacuations and events in Afghanistan are felt close to home. It is with a heavy heart that we watch a humanitarian crisis unfold before us. Those recently arrived and those who have loved ones in Afghanistan are facing unimaginable trauma. Many recent Afghan refugees in our area need support and resources.
FCUSD warmly welcomes students from Afghanistan to our schools and stands ready to help with their transition to a new learning environment. Translation support for families is available, and staff are ready to assist students and their families make the transition to school as seamless as possible. We are working closely with community partners, such as our local governments, faith groups, and nonprofits to connect resources with need. Below are links to local resources, and information on ways you can help.

FCUSD Homeless Services hosts drive thru supply event
As summer came to a close, FCUSD Homeless Student Services team focused on equipping at-risk students with the necessary supplies to start the school year right. The team partnered with PowerSchool and a local Relief Society Organization to help set these students up for success. Equipped with a generous donation of backpacks, courtesy of PowerSchool, the organization filled 200 bags with school supplies, hygiene products, and clothing items that were specific to individual student needs. The group also donated additional school supplies to supplement FCUSD’s inventory for the event. Last week, our FCUSD team hosted a drive thru event and gave away 96 backpacks to students in need. The remaining 104 backpacks will be distributed among homeless and foster youth in our District.

Thank you, PowerSchool, and the Relief Society Organization, for investing in our students and families.
