2021-22 School Year Messages and Links
FCUSD Message to the Community, July 1
July 1, 2022
Dear FCUSD Community,
As we look back on our 2021-22 school year, we would like to take a moment to reflect on some recent successes. For families with high school graduates and those moving on, we are proud of your accomplishments and hope you will stay in touch with the many friends and staff in your FCUSD community. For families who will be rejoining us next year, please see important information at the end of this message regarding elementary schedule changes. This information will also be posted on our website at www.fcusd.org
Summer school success stories and graduations
Over 2,000 K - 12 students participated in summer school, where classroom and hands-on learning enriched their educational experience. Take a look at the many pictures we took by visiting our Facebook post here, and take a moment to enjoy the moments of celebration for over two dozen high school graduates here.
Summer internships for FCUSD students
Student interns participating in the Career Technical Education Summer Preceptorship Program (CTESPP) enjoyed hands-on work-based learning throughout the region in various professional environments. In total, 17 local business partners hosted 78 students who hailed from Cordova High, Folsom High, and Vista del Lago. See what this looked like here!
FCUSD is thankful for our business partners and the many professionals who spent their day mentoring our students, helping them prepare for future college and career opportunities.
FCUSD names the 2023 Teacher of the Year
We are #FCUSDproud to announce Vista del Lago teacher Christina Rae had been named our District’s Teacher of the Year! Learn more about Ms. Rae by visiting our website.
New schedule for all elementary schools this year!
We are excited to announce our elementary schools will be moving to a new schedule this year as FCUSD begins implementation of Universal Transitional Kindergarten (TK), Full Day Kindergarten, and faculty Common Planning Time (CPT). While specific information will be coming directly from your school site during the first week of August, we want to give families an overview of some of the upcoming programs and changes.
In all FCUSD elementary schools,
1st - 5th grade student start times will begin at 8:15 a.m. and dismiss at 2:45 p.m.
NOTE: There is an exception for All Day Kindergarten and every 1st and 2nd grade student the first three weeks of school due to assessments. Your principal will be providing detailed information to K - 2nd grade families during the first week of August.
All Day Kindergarten is being implemented over the next two school years, with roughly half of FCUSD elementary schools beginning the fall of 2022 and the remainder beginning in the fall of 2023.

Common Planning Time
Every Thursday, in all FCUSD elementary schools, students will have an early release day at 1:15 p.m. to provide time for teachers to participate in common planning time (CPT). CPT is dedicated professional development and instructional collaboration time for teachers. This schedule aligns our elementary and secondary schools with a weekly early release schedule.
Please note: Middle and high school schedules are not changing and remain the same as last year.
The First Day of School is Tuesday, August 9, 2022
We can’t wait to see our students!
Regular District communication will be taking a brief hiatus and will resume as we get closer to our first day of school.
