Update: Message to FCUSD Families
November 12, 2020
Dear FCUSD Families:
Elementary schools welcomed students on campus today. Close to 50% of FCUSD families chose to bring their elementary student to campus for in-person instruction in an AM/PM schedule. Families who preferred 100% remote instruction for their student were able to continue instruction in our fully remote, Virtual Academy.
For many students, this was the first time this year they saw their teacher in person. Students arriving on campus were guided to maintain social distancing, wash and sanitize their hands frequently and follow safety precautions. Parents dropped off students at designated school entrances and waited until teachers released students when they picked them up at the end of the day. Want to see what this looked like? Please click on our Facebook post here to view a few pictures of the day.
The District has been planning for weeks for the safe reopening of Elementary campuses and has worked closely with public health officials to carefully put into place the health and safety measures necessary. While the county has been moved to Purple Tier, our schools are safe to stay open according to Sacramento County Public Health.
Please see the letter attached from SCPH officer, Dr. Olivia Kasirye, stating that FCUSD has met safety requirements to open for in-person, Elementary instruction.
Thank you to the staff and families who helped make Elementary Back to Campus Day a success. 2020 has brought many unexpected challenges; however the staff, families, and students that make up the FCUSD community have shown resilience, patience, and grace. We will continue working together to meet challenges with creative solutions, in order to continue providing an exceptional educational experience for all of our students
