The Folsom Cordova Unified School District Parent Engagement Program is committed to the belief that parents are a child's first teacher. Therefore ,the partnership between family and school is critical to the academic success of every student.These key principles create the shared responsibility that is the core of Parent Engagement.

School Site Council:  The law says, "The School Site Council (SSC) shall be composed of the principal; representatives of teachers selected by teachers at the school; other school personnel selected by peers at the school; parents of pupils attending the school selected by such parents; and, in secondary schools, pupils selected by pupils attending the school.”  Each school is responsible for developing a school site council, please contact your school for more information.

What other ways do parents/guardians become involved?   Councils and Committees:   State Compensatory Education (SCE) are required to establish a district advisory committee (DAC) and a school advisory committee (SAC) for the purpose of advising districts and schools regarding compensatory education programs.

Each California public school, grades kindergarten through 12, with 21 or more English learners must form an English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC). Please contact your school for information on meeting dates and times.

Each California public school district, grades kindergarten through 12, with 51 or more English learners must form a District-level English Learner Advisory Committee (DELAC) or subcommittee of an existing district-wide advisory committee.
