I came to Folsom Middle School in 2001. I graduated with my BA in history/social science in 2000 and earned my single subject teaching credential in history with a supplemental in English in 2001. I earned my MS in education administration in 2004. I have been very active since being at FMS teaching 7th and 8th grade history, 8th grade Spanish and 7th grade sewing and power reading. I coached an undefeated soccer team and was an adviser for Honor Society before taking on yearbook and department chair for close to two decades. My job is very important to me and I find myself spending some of my free time thinking about how my class can become more hands on and interesting. Much of my success at FMS was due to many outstanding teachers at the school to include Ms. Matassa with whom I have had the pleasure of team teaching with for my first 17 years. I am very passionate about U.S. history in addition to hoping my students learn to be good citizens and hope they can take some lessons from my class into their futures. I love it when past students stop in and say hi. It is not too often I find myself in a bad mood at work and am grateful to spend my days at a job I truly enjoy.
I am ecstatic to work at Sutter Middle School starting in the Fall of 2023. I am thrilled to continue teaching 8th grade United States history and have the opportunity to work with students to develop a love of United States history. Go Cougars. I have bled red since I was a little girl(die hard 49er fan) and my high school mascot was a cougar. Life comes full circle sometimes!
When I am not working; I enjoy horseback riding, talking with friends on the phone, spending time with my friend's children and family, walking, riding my bike, watching the NFL( go 49ers), MLB( Giants), cooking, cleaning( yes I am serious) and have become very interested in photography and Adobe Photoshop since I was the FMS yearbook adviser for 17 years. During COVID, I realized how much I enjoyed wildlife photography and taking senior portraits of former students. I enjoy returning to Chico many times throughout the year.
