• PTO Board Positions

    (Board members shall serve one year terms but not more than six terms in the same position)

     

    President:

    • Oversee all matters: events, fundraising, budget
    • Lead the group toward goals determined in Fall
    • Communicate with Principal, Teachers, Parents
    • Encourage volunteers
    • Create agenda and run monthly meetings
    • Attend Superintendent’s Communications Meetings (or appoint)

     

    Vice President:

    • Assist the President with all matters
    • Oversee all social events
    • Coordinate volunteers
    • Time Keeper at meetings

     

    Secretary:

    • Document monthly meeting minutes; send to members and make available on Google Drive
    • Highlight items from meetings needing attention and who is responsible
    • Check PTO email and forward or respond as appropriate
    • Compile all documents in Google Drive for future reference

     

    Treasurer:

    • Responsible for financial matters including balancing account, writing checks, keeping budget up to date, filing taxes
    • Provide monthly financial reports including outstanding checks, event reimbursements, fundraiser results
    • Keep group on budget outlined in Fall
    • Keep reimbursement forms stocked

     

    Financial Secretary:

    • Deposit all cash and checks at least twice a month

    Auditor

     

    Book Fair:

    • Work with Librarian to schedule and execute book fairs
    • Tabulate receipts / sales
    • Advertise to families

     

    Box Tops:

    • Collect and tabulate twice a year
    • Create incentives for class competitions
    • Typically money buys playground equipment

     

    Cheetah Chase:

    • Coordinate all details of event (before, day of, after)
    • Collect and total money
    • Manage prizes

     

    Cheetah Wear:

    • Help decide and design what we sell
    • Inventory and track sales

     

    Clubs:

    • Recruit parents to run after school clubs
    • Advertise clubs
    • Track enrollment and work with principal to schedule rooms

     

    Communications:

    • Post Facebook Updates
    • Keep website current
    • Change marquee as needed
    • Hang banners in a timely manner
    • Create and distribute newsletters as needed
    • Provide info to the Parent Coordinator to update school website and PTO web page

     

    Field Day:

    • Choose events for the day, gather supplies
    • Advertise for parent volunteers, coordinate
    • Oversee on day of



    Fundraising:

    • Schedule Spirit Nights
    • Compile list of money-earning opportunities and communicate it to families
    • Secure community relationships / sponsors
    • Respond to fundraising advertising
    • Explore new ways to earn money (Kona Ice, flower sales, etc)

     

    Membership:

    • Create and distribute flier
    • Collect forms, deposit money, create list of members

     

    Philanthropy:

    • Be aware of needs within the school family and respond accordingly

     

    Read Across America:

    • Coordinate invitations to board / city officials
    • Peachjar & facebook to invite parents
    • Secure coffee and treats
    • Create schedule of readers
    • Greet in library, check in volunteers with name tags and direct where to go
    • This person should NOT be scheduled to read so s/he is available in library at all times

     

    Room Parent Coordinator:

    • Track room parents and make sure each teacher has one
    • Provide info on responsibilities
    • Provide Teacher Appreciation Week guidelines
    • Make sure all teachers & support teachers have door decorator (P.E., Intervention, etc.)
    • Host 2 social events for room parents (one at beginning of year and one before TA week)

     

    Teacher Appreciation:

    • Plan monthly events for all staff
    • Get participation from grade levels

     

    Trunk or Treat:

    • Distribute fliers for parent participation
    • Choose games and gather supplies
    • Purchase candy
    • Coordinate activities for event 

     

    Yearbook:

    • Coordinate picture taking with teachers
    • Compile all in book
    • Advertise and track sales
