This activity is all about counting. You'll count by 2's, 3's, 4's, 5's, 6's, 7's, 8's, 9's, and 10's while moving down a number line that's on the ground. Count the numbers aloud while you step, jump, etc. (see Ways to Move) down the number line. Pick whatever number(s) you want (counting by certain numbers may be above the student's grade level). You'll see in the following attachments, you'll need to chalk numbers on the ground, and/or write them on pieces of paper which will be placed on the ground. You'll need safe, adequate space for this activity. This is a great brain, body warm-up activity for the next number line activity.
This activity can be played inside the house in a room with safe, adequate space. It can also be played outside. The numbers can be taped to different objects in the yard or on a fence. You could also chalk the numbers on a sidewalk, driveway, or court (again, keeping safety in mind). The numbers could be "tagged" with a hand or foot. You'll need someone to call out the number problems, or write the number problems down on pieces of paper. Put the pieces of paper in a bowl, and take turns picking them out of the bowl.
