  • Dear RCE Community,

As we move quickly to the end of the 2022-2023 school year, I am filled with gratitude and admiration for our students, staff, and families whose dedication to one another and to the mission of learning has made educational excellence possible for our students. We have much to celebrate.

To our fifth grade students who are being promoted to middle school, you have remained committed to your studies and grown in ways you might never have imagined. As you leave RCE and embark on your journey to middle school, I hope you will remember with fondness the special people who’ve been alongside you in elementary school, the lessons you’ve learned, the belief that you can achieve anything you set your mind to, and always maintain a lifelong love of learning. You will be missed!

It is with pride that I commend our entire student body for all they have learned this year. Not just with their studies, but with each other as we work on building positive relationships with one another. Our families are integral to student success, and I am grateful for all of you. Your engagement is a cornerstone to your child’s educational journey and it is a joy and privilege to be educational partners with you.

I am especially grateful to all the staff at RCE for all the heartfelt dedication to students and each other during this year. I’m continually impressed and appreciative of the hard work and expertise of Team RCE. It is the people who make RCE a great place to learn and I truly believe that when we work together, we are stronger.

I am grateful to have had the opportunity to lead this dynamic school this year and I am excited for what the next school year will bring for all of us. Whether you are a student, a family member, or part of the team, you inspire me every day. I wish you a wonderful summer and we look forward to seeing you back on the first day of school on August 8th, 2023.

    Best Regards,

    • New policy reflects new law (AB 272) which authorizes boards to limit or prohibit student use of smartphones while at school or while under supervision and control of a district employee, except under specified circumstances (i.e., in an emergency, with permission of teacher or administrator, when directed by student health care provider, when required by a student’s individualized education program). Policy also addresses reasonable search of students’ mobile communication devices, employees’ authority to confiscate a device, and discipline for off-campus use of a mobile communication device which possess a threat of danger to the safety of students, staff, or district property or substantially disrupts school activities.
