WHO ARE WE?
Talon Club | Vista Athletic Boosters consist of parents, friends and associates of the athletes at Vista del Lago High School. We help promote Vista athletics, Vista school events and assist in fundraising events. We also have parent representatives from each sport who facilitate communication between coaches and parents; assist coaches in staffing events; coordinate volunteers and attend monthly meetings.
The purpose of the Talon Club is to assist Vista del Lago High School sports teams and student athletes in their fundraising activities in order to help enrich the athletes’ experience and promote Vista del Lago athletics.
SOME WAYS WE THAT WE PROMOTE VISTA ATHLETICS
- funding participation in tournaments and skill improvement clinics or camps
- recruiting assistant coaches
- funding training of coaches to improve their skills
- providing funds to transport students to tournaments, clinics, etc.
- providing training and sports safety equipment
- providing trainers during sports events that are properly supervised and trained
Vista del Lago High School opened in Folsom, California in August 2007. Featuring a beautiful 50 acre campus, Vista has the capacity to accommodate 1,600 students. The school had its first graduating class in 2010 and currently offers comprehensive academic and athletic programs:
Academic program – The school offers Honors/Advanced Placement courses, Engineering Program, Music Program and Special Education. Courses are taught in four instructional buildings. Plus, students can take advantage of a computer lab, library, theater and student union.
Sports program – Vista sponsors 21 boys and girls sports. Well over half of the students at the school participate in at least one sport. Student sports facilities include a football stadium with an all weather track and synthetic grass field, two gymnasiums, a competition-level swimming pool, soccer field, two baseball and softball fields; and eight tennis courts.
Some funding for Vista athletics comes from the Folsom Cordova Unified School District. However, this funding doesn’t fully cover the expenses involved in running a complete sports program.
That’s where the Talon Club | Vista Athletic Boosters come in.
We formed our organization so that Vista athletic teams may hold fundraising activities to raise monies for their teams—and help pay for everything from coaching stipends, sports equipment, summer programs and athletic trainers, to non-league tournaments, team banquets/awards and other sports related activities that are not covered by school district funds.
Several Vista sports teams also host camps for younger athletes in the Folsom area to raise funds, improve skills and promote awareness of Vista del Lago High School. By working together, our school can get the funds it needs to support top-notch programs.
