  • How to read my Powerschool:

Assignments will be listed with due dates. ( I will try to list these in advance as much as possible).

    If assignment

-is BLANK- this means I have NOT graded or collected assignment yet.

-has a CHECKMARK- it means your student's assignment was collected but is not yet graded.

    - has a NUMBER VALUE - this means that is your student's score on the assignment.

-has a MISSING symbol- this means your student's work was not turned in OR may be a no name name paper.

-has an INCOMPLETE symbol- this means your student did not do all portions of the assignment

While Science requires knowledge of content, it is also an INQUIRY-BASED class. This means that students will need to demonstrate inquiry skills like hands-on labs.  Therefore, in Science, grades are WEIGHTED

    40%  Standard Based Assessments

    30% Performance Task Skills

    30% Practice Skills

(not graded) Target Checks   (this are practice questions that check for understanding of a learning target)

Adding up points alone will not give an accurate grade.  To find a WEIGHTED GRADE you can use this formula:

    .40 (# points assessment/total assessment pts) + .30 ( #points Performance Tasks /total PT pts) + .30 ( #points Practice skills/total practice skills pts) = (decimal answer) X100 to get a percentage for your grade.
