¡Hola!

I am beginning my 5th year teaching Spanish at Folsom Middle.  I joined FMS in 2015 and have been the sole world language teacher.  I love working with students and strive to share my passion everyday.  I listened to both Spanish and English at home growing up and not until I was in high school did I formally learn Spanish academically.  During my time at UC Davis, I was attracted to other world languages: French and Italian.  One trimester I was enrolled in English, Spanish, French, and Italian and that was the most confusing time ever!  Even though I was challenged, I realized that communication in a variety of different languages was my future.  My goal is to give my students the best possible strategies to learn Spanish and never forget it.  So I hope to instill in all of you my constant love for language learning.

My other passion is producing theatre and leading international trips with students/parents!  I have been fortunate enough to have directed 9 productions to date for students in grades 3-8.  In 2015, with the initial financial support of our wonderful school PTO, the Visual & Performing Arts Club has been able to put on yearly theatrical productions for students interested in participating and learning all aspects of theatre.  Our club will change name for the 19-20 school year to Folsom Middle Theatre.  You can follow us on Instagram!  Our club at FMS has staged several Disney Jr. productions in the past and we look forward to doing a variety of shows.  One we had fun with is Kid, Frankenstein!!   I look forward in directing more productions with students at FMS.

Regarding International trips; several students at FMS have traveled with Mr. Waldo or myself to Europe!  We've visited Germany, Italy, Spain, and the Czech Republic.  We hope to continue offering these travel opportunities with our FMS community.  We are not FCUSD sponsored in any way and we are on Instagram as well as "Folsom Viajadores".  Traveling outside of the U.S. opens your eyes, makes you culturally aware of other communities in the world, and gives you the outdoor classroom perspective.  It does change you or at least makes you more aware about yourself.  Be on the lookout for our next trip!

My professional self:  I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Spanish with emphasis in Latin American Literature & Spanish Theatre, a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential, and a Single Subject Teaching Credential in Spanish.  I'm hoping to obtain a theatre credential in the near future and add another elective to FMS.

Lastly, my personal life: I am part of a wonderful family:  my husband Carlos, and our three teenagers Alondra, Anahí, and Alex enjoy working and/or attending schools in Folsom.  We love traveling up and down California and abroad, going on long walks, bike rides, hiking the Sierras, having outdoor BBQ's with family, and watching movies and TV shows on Netflix.  I especially love taking photos!  Come say hi!
