    Classified Hiring Fair Frequently Asked Questions

    Q: What should I expect at the hiring fair?

    A: Applicants will check-in, be asked to "quick apply" for a position via jobs.fcusd.org. You can apply ahead of time and we will retrieve your application. Once you have applied, you will be directed to an interview room. If selected for a position, a fingerprint criminal background check ($53), and Tuberculosis screening (free) will be administered on the spot.  

    Q: Will the background fingerprinting fee ($53) be waived?

    A: The district will reimburse the background fingerprinting fee for the first 100 applicants who are successfully hired.  Reimbursement will processed after the candidate completes the six (6) month probationary period. 

    Q: What should I bring

    A: We highly encourage you to bring a copy of your resume to be attached to your job application. If selected for a position with FCUSD, you will also need two (2) forms of government issued identification.  The most common forms of identification are a U.S. Passport, Drivers' License and Social Security Card. 

    Q: What are the minimum requirements for a classified employment opportunity with FCUSD?

    A: Most of our classified employment opportunities are entry level positions.  At minimum a high school diploma is required for employment.  Paraeducator positions require the equivalent of 48 college units or a district proficiency exam. 

    Q: How can I take the district proficiency exam?

    A: District Proficiency Testing will be available at the Hiring Fair. Testing is free. The exam takes up to two (2) hours to complete and consists of 70 multiple-choice questions. The test covers the subjects of English and Mathematics.  The district requires a minimum of 70% passing score.  Last testing time is 4:00 p.m. to allow sufficient time to complete the examination. 

    Q: Is childcare available for fair participants? 

    A: Yes, childcare will be available to fair participants between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. for hiring fair participants. Games, activities and snacks will be provided. 

    Q: I am a current FCUSD employee. Can I refer a friend? 

    A: Absolutely! Employees who refer a candidate to the hiring fair will receive a $250 dollar bonus if the candidate is successfully hired and completes the six (6) month probationary period. The candidate will also receive a $250 dollar bonus upon successful completion of the six (6) month probationary period.
