  • Welcome to Honors Chemistry!

Honors Chemistry will focus on the Next Generation Science Standards for High School Physical Science, using the California Framework as a guide. Honors level Chemistry is significantly more challenging than General Chemistry, and is designed to help students prepare for future AP Science Courses.  The course moves at a faster pace, includes more individualized student self-teaching, and a more intense depth of content coverage than General Chemistry.  Students should expect the course to be challenging, and to put in additional study time.

Students should bring a bound pad of graph paper to class to use as a lab journal for the year.  This will stay in the classroom the entire school year, so it will be used for Chemistry only.  They will also need to bring a scientific calculator to school daily (no cell phones or graphing calculators).  The rest of the materials necessary (paper, pens/pencils, highlighers, notebooks, binders, etc.), are up to the individual student what system of organization works best for them.  I'm looking foward to working with you in Honors Chemistry this year!  I hope you will begin to see the relevance of the content in the world and how it connects to you personally.

  • Google Classroom

We will be using Google Classroom to communicate course information.  Students should log in to the classroom once the codes are distributed.  Daily agendas and homework will be posted there.  Students who are absent should always check there first to find out what they have missed.
