Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Melinda Malaspino
I teach AP Capstone and English 12 as well as coordinate our Global Perspective Studies pathway. I am also the Senior English PLC Leader (professional learning community) and serve as the English department representative on our school Professional Development Leadership committee.
I have taught since 1991 in the FCUSD, since 2004 at Folsom High School. I taught the previous 13 years at Cordova High School, my Alma Mater. Previous teaching experience includes Jesuit High School, Encina High School, and California State University, Sacramento.
I am proud to be a lifelong learner. Most recently, I completed AP Training for AP Seminar and AP Research. I participated in the Teaching for Tolerance conference at the Holocaust Museum in Los Angeles in June 2015 and participated in Professional Learning Community training with the FCUSD. I earned my Masters Degree in Education/Curriculum and Instruction at CSUS in 2010. Concurrently, I achieved my National Board Certification in English Language Arts/Adolescents and Young Adults. Also in 2010, I participated in the Globe Education Academy, a Shakespeare education program sponsored by UC Davis and Shakespeare's Globe Theater in London.
In 2016, I completed Master Classes in Shakespeare Education through the Globe Education Academy, and now I work as a mentor teacher for 1st year teachers in the UC Davis Teacher Education Master's program. I earned my teaching credential at CSUS and completed my bachelor's degree at California Lutheran College (now CLU) with a major in English and a minor in music.
My passions include Shakespeare, travel, hiking, baseball, soccer, cooking and my family--not in that order. I look forward to working with all of you this year!
