Folsom Cordova TK-8 Community Charter School Agreement
Program Goal
The Folsom Cordova Community Charter School (FCC) supports homeschooling families by providing individualized, relevant, and engaging curriculum and resources through partnering with parents by creating an educational learning plan. The bi-monthly contracts developed by the educational consultant, parent, and student on the Educational Learning Form (ELF), the policies described below, and the following expectations are part of this agreement.
Expectations
Students are expected to complete assignments and parents to record hours on the ELF for each 2 week assignment period.
FCC has the following instructional time expectations:
TK-Kindergarten: 3 hours 30 minutes minimum per day or 17.5 hours a week
Grades 1-3: 4 hours 45 minutes minimum per day or 23.75 hours a week
Grades 4-8: 5 hours minimum per day or 25 hours a week
Students who miss 10 or more days of instructional time per semester will be evaluated as to whether or not to continue with this program.
* Work Samples:
With evidence of parent/guardian review and assessment, the student will submit all completed work assignments to the educational consultant every two weeks. Assessment of adequate quality and quantity of the work samples will be made by the educational consultant as a measure of academic accomplishment.
* Testing Program:
Students participate in the state-mandated CAASPP testing program.
* Educational Support Meetings:
The student and parent will meet at the charter school with their educational consultant at a mutually agreed upon time for one hour every two weeks for the purpose of:
(1) submitting their ELF
(2) reviewing completed work and collecting work samples
(3) assessing student understanding
(4) planning the objectives and methods of study for the ELF for the next two-week period.Habitual missed or rescheduled meetings will result in a student’s dismissal from the program.
Policies
-
The bi-monthly objectives and methods of study are set forth in the Educational Learning Form (ELF) contract
-
The manner, time, frequency, and place for submitting assignments is agreed upon by the parent, student, and educational consultant at the creation of each new ELF contract.
-
Methods used to evaluate student work by the educational consultant will be based on completed assignments, demonstration of skills, discussions with the parent, written tests, reports, student journals, oral presentation, and a picture of a student participating in a science experiment.
-
The student and parent will have access to the resources of the FCC including textbooks, supplementary materials, computers, optional workshops, and tutoring. Although the Charter may purchase and supply materials, we assume no responsibility
for product liability. A student’s use of any potentially hazardous product, whether authorized or unauthorized, is at his or her own risk.
-
For all grades, the duration of each contract appears bi-monthly on the ELF and is normally between 1 and 10 school days. It commences with the date the parent, student, and educational consultant sign the ELF and ends the day before the next scheduled conference. Extenuating circumstances agreed upon by both the parent and educational consultant may extend the duration of the contract to a maximum of 20 school days.
-
No more than 10 missed days per semester for any reason will be allowed before an evaluation is conducted to determine whether it is in the best interest of the student to continue in the program. Habitual missed or rescheduled meetings will result in a student’s dismissal from the program.
-
Academic accomplishment appropriate to this agreement and advancement to the next grade will be measured by bi-monthly work samples, verification of their ELFs, and adequate yearly progress as measured by the CAASPP and/or Renaissance testing. Lack of adequate yearly progress may mean that this is not an appropriate learning model for the student and the Charter School Principal will recommend placement in a different educational situation.
-
All participants at FCC do so on a voluntary basis. Students remain eligible to return to the comprehensive classroom in the district in which they reside should this placement be deemed inappropriate.
-
A charter school student may not be concurrently enrolled in another public or private school that takes attendance for the purpose of California’s Average Daily Attendance funding.
Agreement
I agree to all the conditions set forth and accept full responsibility for my child’s education as their main teacher with the guidance and support of FCC. I further understand that failing to meet any one or more of the policies or expectations means that I will be placed on *Probationary Status to evaluate if this educational model is an appropriate placement for my student and FCC may terminate their enrollment for failing to meet one or more of the policies and expectations.
