• Vista del Lago Advisory Senate FAQs

    What is the Advisory Senate?

The Vista del Lago Advisory Senate will represent the student voice, assist with school-wide decision making processes, promote a positive school climate, and work toward making Vista an outstanding place to learn and grow.  The Advisory Senate will work to influence campus policy, organize grade level activities, and facilitate and oversee advisory efforts.

    What is the commitment?

The Advisory Senate will meet once each month with Mrs. Quinton during Advisory.  These meetings will focus on current campus issues and concerns as well as upcoming events and activities.  It is the responsibility of each Student Senator to be in attendance for each of these mandatory meetings.  If the Senator cannot attend, it is his/her responsibility to send another advisory student in his/her place.  Students who fail to do so may be replaced.  You will also be asked to work alongside your Advisory teacher during Advisory lessons and activities to help facilitate and support these lessons.  In some cases, you may be required to lead the lesson/activity.

How do I become an Advisory Senator?

Students interested must complete an Advisory Senator Application.  Students are selected by the Senate Selection Committee.

    What are the Benefits?

As a member of the Advisory Senate, you will have the opportunity to develop your leadership skills and have a key role in shaping the culture, as well as the future, of your school.  You will serve as a representative for your Advisory classmates in meetings with Student Government and Vista Administration.  You will have the opportunity to be a powerful voice on our campus and an influential leader among your peers.
