    Every student needs a post-secondary plan. The College and Career Center is here to help you create and achieve yours. 

    Resources include:

    College/Career Center- Information available on universities, community colleges, CTE programs, trade schools, employment, military, summer programs, gap year, financial aid and more. 

     

    2022- 2023 College Rep's at VdLHS - See list of College Reps HERE. They will have a table set up at lunch. Please log in with a FCUSD student log in. 

     

    Financial Aid/Scholarship Resources - Student Scholarship Workshops, parent help with the FAFSA, and scholarship resources are available through the College/Career Center. Check out the Financial Aid/FAFSA page for more info.

    • STEPS TO COLLEGE FAIR- The Largest Bilingual & Binational  University Fair in Northern California. February 4th Register here.

     

    Flextime Presentations and Workshops- Sign up to attend a Flextime workshop on topics including resume building, interview skills, college exploration, career exploration, FAFSA and Scholarships, course planning. Here is a list of current offerings. Use your FCUSD student log in to gain access.

     

    Peer Tutor Program - Students who have completed a class with an A or B, with teacher's approval, may sign up to be on the Peer Tutor List. Vista students in grades 10-12 can apply to be peer tutors by completing a Peer Tutor application. Students are paid $12 per hour. Applications can be picked up in the career center. 

    The current Peer Tutor List is accessible HERE with a FCUSD student log in. We do not share access to this list with non-FCUSD emails.

    Sac State Math Tutoring Buddies- Tutoring is available for: Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Trigonometry, Pre-calculus, Geometry, Statistics. You can find more information about the MTB program HERE. Tutoring hours are available HERE.

    Intel- Highschool Student Summer Internship- Application and more information. Due February 10th, 2023.

    Tip: You can add to your resume: "Proficient in Google docs (comparable to Microsoft Word) and Google Sheets (comparable to Microsoft Excel)." Then spell out specific skills (graphs, pivot tables, formulas) or activities with the software.

    California Girls State Program - Last Chance Junior Girls!

    This is a great opportunity to participate in a week-long leadership conference centered around understanding California’s local, county and state Government systems. Participants will gain experience in self-advocacy and public speaking, as well as how to develop social capital by building networks and relationships. Four Vista students will be selected for interviews, but only one delegate and alternate will be chosen.  More information 

    Qualifications to apply:

    • Be a Junior & female

    • 3.5 or higher GPA

    • Exhibit leadership skills (Involvement in clubs and extracurricular activities)

    • Sense of pride as a US citizen & in maintaining the Democratic government process

    • Have a positive attitude & relate well to others.

    Location & Dates: June 26- July 1, 2023 at Sacramento State University

    Black Men in White Coats Youth Summit 2023
    Kaiser Permanente (KP) and the Black Men in White Coats Youth Organization seeks to provide underrepresented minority youth with exposure to the medical field through the following: Robust discussion topics led by content experts, Activities with dynamic speakers and diverse physician panelists, Educational breakout sessions covering an array of topics including: networking skills, study skills workshops, total health, support for parents & educational guidance from local counselors.
