Welcome to Online Learning with Mrs. Lawson
Remember that we need all students to log in to Schoology every day -- all classes -- beginning Monday March 30, 2020.
OFFICE HOURS: I can be reached in real-time Mon-Fri between 10:00 a.m. to noon via email at firstname.lastname@example.org. Students can ask questions and get help from me in real time by logging in to their student account on Schoology, then clicking on the GROUP tab at the top of the screen. They should then click on the GROUP for my class. Once in that space, they should see a menu on the left that includes a "Conference" tab. I will hold conferences in my GROUP space Mon-Fri. from 10:00 a.m. to noon. In Schoology, the Conference option has three ways to communicate: via text-only chat which will work for students without a mic or webcam, also they can communicate via audio only, but students must have microphone or phone access capability or via video which requires students to have a web cam and mic (or phone).
Student login and access info will be sent to families on Saturday, March 28. Please be patient as the District has thousands of households to process for access to this new Online platform. Parents who wish to access Schoology's Parent Portal can request a Parent Access Code by emailing their child's 2nd period teacher directly and requesting it.
Why do students need to login in to Schoology daily -- especially next week? This is what they are calling a "soft" rollout which means we are posting real assignments to see how everyone does with the technology. We *really* need students to try out these assignments and the Schoology platform so we can address any glitches or other problems that may arise. Some teachers may post directly to Schoology and others may post links in Schoology to Google Classroom -- but either way, students need to get used to starting with Schoology FIRST and DAILY. :0)
Thank you so much for your patience and support during these unprecedented times. I miss everyone so much!
