Sutter Middle School takes great pride in its existence. Located in the historical district of Folsom, Sutter Middle School is named after General John A. Sutter, linking us to the area’s rich history. Established in August of 2000, SMS promotes a safe and friendly environment for 6th, 7th and 8th grade students. We carry on an established tradition of high academic standards and achievement in extra-curricular activities. Intensive thematic learning will connect the academic disciplines while a flexible schedule enables heterogeneous grouping. Interdisciplinary teaming provides opportunities for individualized instructional format. At Sutter Middle School, each student is assigned to a team of teachers. There are three teams at SMS. Each team is a “school within a school.” In the team environment, teachers are better able to network in providing assistance to students needing extra support. The majority of students will change teachers and classrooms with each period. |
