Dough Co.

This web page introduces donuts and how they are made.

The first donut was invented in Medieval Europe but back then it was a ball of cooked dough with jelly in it or rolled in sugar.

The donut was first recognized by Americans in 1834. It soon became part of the American diet and millions were made.

The donut we all eat today came to Manhattan, but when it came it had the Dutch name of olykoeks--"oily cakes."
