Sacramento Magazine recently published an article titled “Rating the High Schools” in their June 2012 issue. The article outlined the several relevant topics related to student performance. It also paints a picture as to the increased competitiveness surrounding college admissions. All of the comprehensive high schools faired well in the article, illustrating that FCUSD continues to produce students that can compete well in the modern world. Folsom High School’s Global Program Studies (GPS), which puts an additional international mindset and rigor on core curriculum, was said to be an incredible addition to the school despite budget cuts. Folsom High was also ranked 7th in Sacramento County by API Scores (a combination of STAR and CAHSEE scores) and had a graduation rate of 98%--FHS tied for second highest in the region. Cordova High School also posted a stellar graduation rate of 94%. The district expects Cordova High students to continue to excel academically with the implementation of the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum there, Fall 2012. |
