"Me on the Map" That's what Judah's second grade students were creating. By identifying the United States, the State of California, the City of Folsom, and finally, Theodore Judah Elementary School, students have a small glimpse of the global society in which we live. Difficult concept when you are seven years old! Other students were studying Numeral Systems and then creating their own system using symbols of their own choice. I could also see the influence of art in the classrooms as an Art Docent was presenting a lesson in Mrs. Itkoff's room. In another class, clay masks ready for firing were on display. Several of the fifth grade students were marketing the "Holiday Grams" by putting up posters, just in time for the Saturday Pancake Breakfast with Santa hosted by the school and community members. I saw something I have never seen at any other elementary school---the school's administrative assistant Ms. Mary was playing Four Square ball on the playground as the school was short-staffed for yard duty supervisors this day. Thanks Ms. Mary and Ms. Taleen for all you do for Judah! And, finally, a shout-out to Principal Peterson who was featured by the Sacramento Bee in an article. Mr. Peterson helps to set the friendly tone for the school by greeting parents and supporting the wonderful staff at the school.
