Cordova High Agriculture Academy to receive big state grant funding boost
Congratulations to Cordova High School’s Agriculture Academy and Future Farmers of America programs, which could receive up to $200,000 in state grant funds under a regional career and technical education initiative.
The state has awarded $15 million in Career Pathway Grants to the Central Region Consortium, a large group of high schools and colleges from Woodland to Merced. The state grants will help train students in agricultural science, agricultural mechanics and ornamental horticulture, according to The Sacramento Bee.
The state Department of Education grants are targeted to help train students for high-demand jobs. The growing Agriculture Academy at Cordova High is a four-year pathway in which students build science skills and knowledge through hands-on projects.
