The transition from middle school to high school is never an easy one, but students at Folsom High reached out this year to make it a little easier for incoming freshmen. About 120 seniors and juniors team up annually to mentor their younger counterparts through fun-filled activities and team building exercises.
Freshman orientation occurs about a week before school starts. This event allows for students to be introduced to staff and faculty, tour the campus, and learn the ins and outs of high school living. Freshman are divided into groups and are led by a team of mentors.
"I absolutely loved it when I was a freshman. I wanted to do everything I possibly could to be in this program to help the new freshman coming in," said senior Angie Eserini, a Kickoff mentor.
