The district will be observing 'President´s Week' beginning on Monday, February 15 and ending on Friday, February 19, 2010.
Student´s and staff will return to school on Monday, February 22, 2010, when classes resume.
'President´s Week' was created by the necessity to re-organize the District´s Instructional Calendar to accomodate voluntary furlough days observed by each employee group. To assist in closing the $14.7 million budget shortfall in the 2009-2010 school year, all employee groups have agreed to three (3) voluntary furloughs days. Because teacher´s and site administrator´s work schedules are based on days students are in classes, 'Washington´s Birthday' will be observed by FCUSD on Friday, February 19, 2010. The furloughs will be observed from Tuesday, February 16, 2010-Thursday, February 18, 2010. 'President´s Day' will be observed on its orignal holiday, Monday February 15th, 2010.
This weeklong observation maximizes the District´s effeciency as school sites and the district office will be closed to the public. Moreover, 'President´s Week' provides students and teachers (and their families) a unique opportunity to plan a full week off without the need for unnecessary absence.
