Cordova Lane Elementary has been reborn as the school district's multi-service Cordova Lane Center.
The Cordova Lane Center is a hub for school district programs that serve children and families throughout Rancho Cordova and Folsom. Programs running out of the Cordova Lane Center are funded by grants, fees and other sources, not from the District´s General Fund. Some of the District programs and services located at the Center include:
The Lil´ Cougars Preschool Program: a high quality, fee-based early childhood program with two exciting features - the preschool version of the Language Arts curriculum adopted by the District, and a soon-to-be-installed state of the art preschool playground.
The no-cost Preschool Program (state and federally-funded for eligible families): one preschool site is located at the Center, along with the District´s administrative office preschool programs.
The School Readiness Project: serving families of young children throughout Rancho Cordova with no-cost parent participation playgroups, parent education workshops, summer-time Kinder Camps, and many other services
Student Care (District´s Before and Afterschool Program): administrative office for this fee-based (sliding scale) childcare program operating on 17 campuses.
The STARS After School Program: administrative office for this no-cost afterschool program that serves students on 9 campuses in Rancho Cordova every day after school until 6:00 p.m.
The Transitional English Program: this office places children with limited English proficiency into classrooms throughout the District; also coordinates the District´s award-winning Heritage Language Program, in which children explore their home culture's music, art, literature and dance while receiving academic instruction in Spanish, Russian, or Ukrainian.
The Parent Engagement Project: a national service project with AmeriCorps*VISTAs operating the Parent Resource Outreach Mobile (PROM), conducting parent information events, organizing workshops and educational opportunities for parents district-wide, and seeking grants and donations to support parent engagement activities.
Communities & Health Professionals Together (CHPT): another national service project in which an AmeriCorps*VISTA helps pediatricians, family medicine physicians, and nursing students from UC Davis and CSUS to carry out non-clinical health and wellness projects in Rancho Cordova and Folsom.
Early Childhood Assessment Team: specialists in various aspects of child development and special education assess young children and provide a range of support services including a preschool program for young children with special needs; provides opportunities for children with special needs to spend time with their typically-abled peers in the other preschool classrooms operated at the Center.
Family Resource Center: The Cordova Lane Center provides information and referral services to families seeking health and human services they may need to within the District or the community; for example, Center staff are trained and equipped to help families apply for Medi-Cal or Healthy Families, the State´s low-cost health insurance program for children.
The tradition of Cordova Lane continues, with campuses committed to providing programs serving the children, families and communities of Rancho Cordova.
