New Gymnasium, Wing A Renovation
and Site Work Renovation 2003
Project Description:
Renovation project includes HVAC;
replacement of interior finishes including floors, wall
surfaces and ceilings; installation of new equipment
including white boards, casework and cabinets; upgrading
of toilet rooms including accessibility toilets, sinks
and partitions; accessibility upgrades for ADA
compliance; repair and/or replacement of roofs as
needed; upgrade of electrical system and increase in
power capacity in classrooms to accommodate technology;
complete technology data system; increase network speed;
provide computers and LCD projectors and connect
portables to the local area network; installation of new
energy efficient lighting fixtures and controls; repair
of dry rot and termite damage; asbestos abatement;
relocate and refurbish existing portable buildings; and
replacement of old furniture. Gymnasium project
includes a new gymnasium complex consisting of a 14,000
square foot gymnasium with wood floor system, 2,600
square foot exercise room and 5,000 square foot of
locker, staff and storage areas. Site work project
includes construction of a new pedestrian and bicycle
path from the east side of the campus to the bike
storage area for safety; grading of the east portion of
the site, irrigation and landscaping to create a new 400
meter running track with a turf infield useable for
field sports; relocation of portable buildings to a
planned grouping near the rear of the campus; conversion
of a relocatable to a restroom near the play fields;
addition of parking near the multipurpose building;
extension of the student drop off lane; landscaping of
the center of the campus to provide walkways between the
buildings; extension of the automatic irrigation system
to portions of the campus currently without irrigation;
and addition of lighting at the interior of the campus.
Project Funding:
The project construction cost was
$10.0 million and was funded from Measure C and the state school building
program.
Project Timeline:
The project began in May 2002 and was complete by June 2003.
