Project Description: Includes
abatement of blown-on acoustical asbestos ceiling;
installation of new lighting; replacement of the
gymnasium flooring; installation of new bleachers;
interior painting; new doors and hardware; acoustical
treatments and refinishing of the wrestling room floor.
Project Funding:
The project construction cost was
$1.2 million and was funded from Measure B.
Project Timeline:
The project began in June 2004 and was complete by
November 2005.

INITIAL
SCOPE: Renovate staff toilet rooms and faculty rooms; replace HVAC system
unit ventilator fans and HVAC system upgrades where needed; replace
cafeteria stage folding partition; replace flooring in cafeteria, and
wings A, B, C and D; demolish and replace AJ Academy and computer lab
relocatable buildings; repair or replace cabinets as needed, wall
finishing, doors and ceilings as needed; install energy management
controls campus-wide; replace windows as needed; replace asphalt walkways
with concrete; reconfigure administration building; paint exterior
buildings of the campus; and remodel a portion of D wing for a new
attendance and counseling center. ENHANCEMENTS:
Reduced cost of asbestos abatement removal allowing
replacement of VAT flooring with new flooring; painted interior of
cafeteria and administration; installation of new phone service trunk
(funded through E-Rate); installed spare conduit throughout site for
future low voltage needs (funded by maintenance); replaced vinyl flooring
in four science rooms; and added carpet and wall finishes to the
administration building.
